Mormon Cosmic Groove

Like any 70's act that wanted to stay current the Osmonds followed suite by producing the disco dance friendly album Steppin Out in 1977. No other family group outside of the Jackson 5 enjoyed the success that the Osmonds did. Shortly after this album things would start to deteriorate with the Donny and Marie Show taking the steam out of the band. Not too many other bands I can think of from Utah either.

Losing More Every Minute.

Just got word of Sean Stewart's passing. Such a sad thing as this has been one of my new favorites. The best Aussie band since the Birthday Party. Heres to HTRK and the memory of Sean Stewart.

Tropicalia Stew

Rita Lee probably needs little introduction if you are somewhat familiar with Brazilian music. Having been a member of the seminal tropicalia outfit Os Mutantes, Rita Lee's solo career was one of many ups and downs. Some of us are still sceptical as to why she is not a part of Os Mutantes today. Every feel like you've been cheated? Not after listening to this.

Spring Spring.

Oh yeah spring is here. This somehow reminds me of Spring.

Post Punk Infatuation.

So after a long weekend in San Francisco retreated back home to find a mailbox full of great records in addition to the ones I recieved on my trip. A ton of great stuff that I am still currently exploring and should be for the next few weeks. I'm sure some of them will start surfacing here shortly. Here is a 7'' that has just sounded perfect everytime I put it on. Anti-Matters "Infatuation" 7". Has a really cool Factory Records meets 80's micro pop sound to it. Simple and very effective.

Can't Be Stopped!

I am playing Booty Basement this Saturday at the Whistlestop here in San Diego so I thought in honour of that I would post one of my favorite southern hip hop records ever. We Can't Be Stopped is the Ghetto Boys third outting and is such an amazing record. They had a passion for rapping about drugs, psychotic experiences, fucking, and necrophilia. They're influence on Southern Hip Hop is endless. They have a budget sound to the songs which I find priceless because it really puts the lyrics upfront. Also we can't be stopped is the greatest hip hop album cover ever! No shirtless photo. No fancy suit. No woman in bikinis. Just Bushwick Bill on a hospital bed after a major alchol and drug binge freshly shot in the eye by his girlfriend after he begged her to kill him! Now he's a born again Christian. Oh well. The rawness displayed on this album is enough to make him a king in hell over and over again. So yeah, download this shit!

Warm Moving Bodies.

Yikes winter is almost gone which means Spring is almost here. Then summer. But before the beaches begin to crowd with warped beauty we are geeking out on various projects and hope to have your ears fully enrolled by summer time. So in the meantime enjoy these 3 jams. We sure do.
