Don't turn the light on, leave me alone.

Got a request for this album. Can definitely has all the trappings for a desert island band. Timeless music that clearly has a beginning, middle, and end. Can also seems to transcend the moniker of simply stated kraut-rock. Each album has it's own unique individual tone and voice that sets itself apart from any of the others. The clear jam on this album is "Mother Sky". The song "Don't Turn The Light On, Leave Me Alone" also marks the first appearance of Damon Suzuki on a recorded Can track.http://www.mediafire.com/?fm41ro9gj4ry3

Garden of Elks.

Ah December. The month where everyone starts to loose utter shit over a pagan holiday turned material shopping extravaganza. I choose to deal with it by immersing myself in a mire of sounds that are cavernous and easy to get lost in. The A-number One record for this is from Swedish psych outfit Algarnas Tradgard. Roughly translating to "Garden of the Elks", Algarnas Tradgard sculpt a druggie sound that never seems to pussyfoot away from the listener. Instead of wandering into self absorbed heady territory, the album floats in a colorful wave of semi-consciousness and blinding white day dreams. Kind of funny too how this album seems more kraut rock than even the Germans could produce. This is a desert island record for me. Always reminds me of December. A private opium den for me to get lost for a month in.

My Solid German Record Collection.

Yet another point for Deutschland. My Solid Ground's lone album from 71 has a little bit of everything in it. The opening track is a very Floyd driven slow astral chugger but as soon as it comes to a close the meat is flung well out on "Flash Part IV". From here on out the album shifts gears flawlessly between kraut driven hard psych and moody droning dream screams. A perfect album for Fall. This is the Second Battle cd edition that had some bonus material on it as well. I would say this easily makes it into my top ten German kraut/psych records.
