Black Silk Stockings.
Another stunning Italian record that sounds a bit more raw than the more celebrated Italian synth releases. "Chinese Restaurant" was recorded in London in 1977 by Nico Papathanassiou and his better known brother Vangelis. Yep. Very impressive. This was reissued by Medical records out of Seattle who unfortunately blew it big time on the cover art making it look like a 80's Night flier.

Lord Only Knows.
Chrome, black leather jackets, switch blades, and malt shop romance all come to mind when one thinks of classic Americana. Dirty Beaches latest long player "Badlands" is not the distilled "Happy Day's" memorabilia that many have come to know. It's more like the pilled up ghost of an ex-lover that haunts you into lonesome nights and has you dreaming for a better dream. Dirty Beaches manages to capture the rare essence of something that is timeless yet has a distinguished character that you almost know. It would be lazy to say that it reminds you of Suicide though it is there. You may also here a young more baritone Bruce Springsteen in there too. Perfectly blending haunting tape loops with psychedelic-esque reverb vocals and minimal guitar touches, "Badlands" crawls out your speakers and directly into the permanent day dream of all malt shop rebels to lend them a tear to wear like a badge on their leather jackets.

Touched with cold hands.
Have not been able to stop listening to this album. I would say that next to Led Er Est this is the best active minimal synth project out there. Perfectly captures the mood and isolation of every day living.

That's Abel.
Here's something that's good for the summer time. This was released in 2009 by the ever amazing Blackdisco label headed-up by non other than Kevin Carney who seems to be too busy running his boutique to put out new stuff. At least he left us with a group of stellar release that are still making the rounds on turntables across the world. This one is by Abel Nagengast who takes things nice and slow for the AOR-Disco summertime rub-off. Above average edits in a world that is drowning in pointless edits.

We are not dead.
So the computer issue was in fact big. Mother-fucking-board. Three days out of warranty too. It is in the process of getting fixed though so maybe a couple more weeks and the regular posts should start happening again. Also, May 7th will mark the kick-off of our new party Skin Tight. It will be happening on Saturday so if your in the San Diego area get down to the Whistle Stop and say hi. Your also encouraged to shake a leg. Dj's are myself and the San Diego legend Mark Quark. You can expect a wide variety of sounds new and old, heard and unheard. Flier will be posted here soon. The next Skin Tight party will be happening on July 2nd which is July 4th weekend and we are booking a very special guest for it too. We will keep trying to figure out how to put sparklers in every drink with out it looking like the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Finally, I should also have my record ripping equipment ready to go by mid-May so keep looking here as I will definently start posting some super rare records that are not found within the mediafire/Google search jungle. Be back soon.
