Big Summer Fun In The Radioactive Sun!

This weekend finds us on a journey back to Northern California. First stop Big Sur. Time to get those chakras aligned. Then to San Francisco on Saturday to do a private party and on Sunday our Summer daytime party at the Casanova. Should be a lot of fun. I packed a bunch of cool 70's Brazilian, Turkish, and weird Euro groovers. Party starts at 4:00 p.m. and goes till 9:00 p.m. Come join us. Here's a few things that may be played and guess what? It's all over the place. If there is one thing we believe in here at Radiant Darkness more than anything it's never get stuck in the ghetto of your own mind's limitations. So yeah, lighten up pal. Download our little comp.

Adams Family Basement Funk!

If you are reading this blog then chances are you know who Patrick Adams is and need little introduction to the amazing body of his work. If you don't know who he his, then you have probably heard one of his productions with out even knowing. He has worked with everyone from Sister Sledge, Leroy Burgess, Loleatta Holloway, R. Kelly, Keith Sweat, Salt-N-Pepa, Herbie Mann, Rick James, and the list goes on and on. To put it simple he is a fucking genius. His early work is something that especially stands out. His productions have a bit of the dirty true underground sound to them but maintain a very soulful and think stewy funk. Every time I throw down Patty Duke it always amazes me how fucking heavy the drums. And sputurring synths and a loose attitude in the mix and you got yourself a summer jam to make everyone move. I have also included Universal Robot Band's "Dance and Shake Your Tambourine" to show how consistent Mr. Adams is behind the knobs. There are numerous comps devoted to the man and I highly recommend getting those. Cheers Patrick Adams.

This event is free but for all who attend we encourage you to drink a fucking ton of booze as the bar will be making a huge donation to go towards cancer research and funeral costs for Brandi. Live bands and good music all night. Hope to see you there.

Shake the Bad Bugs.

Still not much better on the posting but fuck it. There maybe only four people reading this thing as far as I know. So here is a great great song by Soma Holiday that has an electro/coldwave arm wrestling match happening at once. You know what it results in? Fucking brilliance!

And download below.

All The Colors of Darkness

Sorry for the lag in updates lately. Have been extremely busy and keeping up with posts is getting harder and harder but a bunch of great news is in the horizon. New party's are in the works for southern California. Hope to have an operational party going strong by fall. Will probably take place in L.A. and we hope to be doing a monthly which will focus on live music and dj sets from friends and guests alike. More on this as it becomes concrete. In the mean time I recently revisited one of my all time favorite movies. Late one night while trying to tackle a bunch of shit I put on Suspiria. This movie has never lost it's punch. Also features the amazing and haunting soundtrack by Goblin in association with Dario Argento. The music in the film is like a brooding invisible character that gives the film an extra level of doom that is inescapable. So here is the soundtrack. I'm sure tons of you already have this but for those who don't, you need this. Good luck sleeping.

Dark Corners.

Tonight I will be attending and djing a show at the ever amazing Silver Factory in L.A. Blessure Grave is playing along with Veil Veil Vanish from S.F. and a few other bands I believe. Should be an amazing time. A bunch of people are djing too. Every time I here of a minimal synth dj thingy I always think back to Suicide. Not only are the coolest motherfuckers ever but their intelligence and attitude toward music is truly inspirational. They also did the most punk thing ever in the early seventies which was to play rock n roll without conventional instruments. Their first drum machine was a bowling pin setter that made weird clicking noises. If you can out punk that then you should just transform into a safety pin or something.

Black Out

Pete Burn's early sado-punk rumbles are nothing short of amazing. It's easy to hear that a band like the Horrors has probably studied the classic "Birth Of A Nation" E.P. closely. Punk rock with real balls and obsessed with them at the same time.
